Magic Man, the beginning

Hey Guys!  Well we are in the process of beginning production on our first feature film MAGIC MAN.  The interesting thing we have noticed in this process is that though on a larger scale the steps are quite similar to our process with GUERILLA THERAPY.

The comment that keeps popping out at us is “set your start date.”  We learned this lesson when we started GT.  We had been waiting on different aspects of production to all come together on a perfect date and guess what, that just doesn’t happen.  So instead we set our perfect date and the bees came to the honey.  The minute we did this pre-production started to gel, people came on board and the pieces started to link up.

It’s been amazing to watch that when we decided to actually get MAGIC MAN made bits and pieces of help started popping out of the ether.  The universe is showing us that it’s time to gitt’er done!

Our first line of business is to write a business plan.  It seems like an odd thing for a movie but what it serves as a legal document to show the risk/reward your investors are going to have with investing in your movie.

Once that is set, it’s on to finding the investors.  It may seem daunting to look for this but it’s amazing what comes to you when you start looking.

We will keep you posted on the next stage once we start actual investor meetings…should be fascinating!

Intentional Chocolate Webisode

Well it looks like us ladies have a few things to catch everyone up on.  At the end of 2008, we had the wonderful opportunity to create from concept to creation a webisode for the company, Intentional Chocolate™. Intentional Chocolate™ provides a chocolate that can be gifted as a positive intention to another person.   At inception we came up with a script that reflected the company’s beliefs while injecting into it our own concepts that of story telling with levity.  The result was an entertaining educational piece helping people understand how to set intention which can seem so daunting and elusive.  Production was a synergistic event; perfect locations popped up for use, amazing crew came out of the wood works, talented actors committed to the project.  It was once again enjoyable to watch the words we placed on the page come to life.  Once filming commenced, Arlona put her director hat on and Ashley her acting hat.  Juggling the many hats is always a challenge but one that both of us find not only rewarding but a total blast!  It allows us to be there creating at every step.

Thanks to those by name:  Paul Mayne, our fantastic DP, and Paul’s friend Rick Young: who is an amazing grip, Peter Gave, our rocking editor and special effects artists, Amanda Lalique, gifted stylist, Cricket Leigh, make-up artist extraordinaire, Teena May for sound and  Lead PA, Camera Dept. Assistant Uri Niv and our talented actors: our lead, Avi Rothman and our two scientist Colin Forman, and Rory Brosnan.   And Nick Arquette for helping procure our location.

As always, we are very grateful for those people who joined us and helped up on this project. We could not have done this project without those people. We truly believe, and maybe it comes from our own experiences in the trenches either direct experiences or watching others not get the respect and gratitude they deserve. This was a collaborative effort. And without the help of our crew our dreams would not have been realized on this project.

So far, we each new experience that has invited us to explore our talents, has also grown us a human beginnings. Working for a company as Intentional Chocolate has inspired us to set forth our intentions of goals, hopes and dreams.

We here at A-Okay believe in following intention setting and find that the use of this practice has helped launch our company and lead us on the right path of success and happiness.

GUERILLA THERAPY #2

It’s a Wrap with Guerilla Therapy!

Dear friends and fans:

It’s official, we wrapped production on our web series Guerilla Therapy.
It’s been an amazing journey from development of the idea, through writing,
and then production. We go into post production this month and all five
webisodes will be posted by the end of August, beginning of September.

Guerilla Therapy could not have been realized without the help of our
friends and family, donating their best wishes and money to our efforts. We
want to thank them all for their help!

Also, on this journey we had a lot of help from our cast and crew. We had
the joy and pleasure of working with an amazing DP, Paul Mayne. Paul we
could not have done this web series without you. Your expertise, work ethic
and dedication to this project was so appreciated; you went above and beyond
what we could have hope for. Peter thank you so much for not only for your
editing genius but for also lending a hand in the sound department. To our
wonderful cast, Jennica Nims, James Ross, Tim Carter, Deb Reed, Lydia
Albanis, Scott Dawson and Caren Lewis, you guys brought your passion,
dedication and professionalism to the characters we created, again we are so
grateful to your contributions to this project.

We would also like to thank those people for trusting us and allowing us to
use their homes, businesses for our locations. Thank You!!!!

One of the lessons that we learned through this process, was that it is a
process. When one comes up with an idea, then the idea takes shape, and
form, through character development, story structure, dialogue and other
components the idea becomes breath. Then once you get into production the
idea on the written page then comes to life…It was exciting to see our
idea evolve and grow in this process. This happened because we were open to
the collaborative process. We really believe in the statement that “filming
is a collaborative effort,” it really is! And we pass on this experience to
those out there who want to do the same. Keep it simple, remain open to the
possibilities allow your project to grow and evolve. Engage and trust the
people around you who have volunteered to help you out on your dream.

To all the fans out there who have supported the web series on YouTube, we
thank you for your viewership and fan-ship.

There is more to come from this dynamic duo, so sit tight and come along
with us for the ride.

Best,
Ashley & Arlona

Other Biz…

In other business news we finished our first script MAGIC MAN. We have had a few meetings that have resulted in really nice positive feedback. Currently, we are in process of writing our second script.

We just wanted to let you guys know that it’s possible to do what we are doing. Again we kept it manageable and enjoyable.

We love what we are doing!

Again all the best,

Arlona & Ashley

Second to Last Day of shooting G.T.!!

Greetings Everyone!

We are coming into the home stretch; only one more day of filming to go and then Guerilla Therapy the series is done, then all five episodes will be posted for all to see.  Sunday was a hustle and bustle crazy kind of shooting day. There is only one more day left.

We shot in the morning, very guerilla style at a local outdoor fast food joint. Typical LA, people were actually concerned with moving their cars for our shot!

“Jennifer” & the director

Whole new wardrobe change next with Arlona, our multi-faceted director, helping out spritzing ‘Monica’s’ hair, we think it was the best up-do yet!
Monica gets her hair done by Arlona:)

‘Misty’ and ‘Monica’ then got straight to work;)

Our mid-day shot was at Griffith park tennis courts…

Gregg is not much of a tennis player

And then in the afternoon we were at a local restaurant, Victor’s, in Hollywood. Thank you to him and his restaurant for letting us use their outdoor space, just for a buying a few entrees.

We finished each location early and got all the shots that we needed, thanks to our amazing DP Paul!  And that’s a wrap to….Jennica Nims and Tim Carter! Thanks guys for the great work!

Let’s just say we are leaving up to our name “Guerilla.” If it weren’t for flexibility and a little gusto none of this would be getting done.  All in all, we are very excited that we will be finishing soon. It’s nice to see an end result for so much work.
